According to the OECD-report "Science, Technology, Outlook & Industry", China will this year be in the second position behind the USA and ahead of Japan concerning investments in research & development (R&d).

Chinas increasing technological strength can also be seen from filed patent applications which have been rising by 200% since the year 2000.
