The government of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia deposited its instrument of accession to the European Patent Convention (EPC) on October 28, 2008.

Accordingly, the EPC will enter into force for the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on 1 January 2009. The European Patent Organisation will thus comprise 35 member states as of 1 January 2009 including all member states of the European Union.
